So I have to confess that I’ve seen Avengers: Age of Ultron twice already. My sister has seen it 3x, so I’ll have to step up my game. But it was everything I wanted and more, and all the issues I had a hard time coming to terms with on the first viewing felt organic and natural.
The short of it: run out and see it before it gets spoiled. You’ll thank me someday.
First off – I have a lot of fun news from friends!
Congrats to my dear friend, Shallee McArthur, on her recent announcement that her book, THE UNHAPPENING OF GENESIS LEE, will be published in fall 2014. I absolutely adore this book and can’t wait for it to be on my my shelf!
I’m eagerly awaiting the release of Dan Wells’ final book in his Partials Sequence — RUINS will be out March 11, and believe me, you’ll want to buy it that first day to read the explosive conclusion to a fantastic series!
Just finished this amazing ebook I strongly recommend: PIECES OF JADE by Lani Woodland and Melonie Piper. It’s amazing, so run out and buy it now.
Secondly, Christmas was super amazing at our house. Not only did we get a remote control orca that ‘swims’ in the air (and make me feel like I live in an aquarium), my husband truly understands my nerd self and got me a stockpile of great things, including comic books and firefly: the game! Yes, I’m stoked to watch and read all my new books/movies — but mostly, I’m ready to try out this game. The goal of the game: Find a Crew. Find a Job. Keep Flying. What could be better?
Thanks everyone for following this blog! I’m leaving it here for an archive. Enjoy!
Well this week was busy. Tuesday I went to the amazing J.R. Johansson’s book release of INSOMNIA. She read a section, and I’ll just say that I got CHILLS and can’t wait to read the rest! (A signed copy of the book is available to win at this contest). This book cover basically means I’ll never read this book after dark… or by myself… or, well, with the lights out? I guess that doesn’t work either way.
My favorite part was how we went into the details of the cover model and how a.) he is a boy and b.) in order to make him look more boyish they added stubble and an earring (lol) and c.) his lips are still a little too pinkish…
Anyways, today I also got to catch up with a bunch of friends at the WIFYR conference, as well as make a bunch of new friends. So basically this week has been so full of writer friends that I barely know what to do with myself. Oh wait, I do. For those who haven’t heard, I’m launching myself into a book-writing frenzy with the determination to finish this AWESOME NEW BOOK IDEA in only a few weeks. I’m already a pretty good chunk in, so it’s looking good! Anyone want to join me for my #writingparty the next two weeks? Hands??? Please? Anyone??
I also want to give a shout out about our SummerPalooza Contest over on the Writer Therapy blog, which is truly epic. Prizes include books of your choice, amazon gift cards, critiques and much, much more.
So how has your summer been going?
